Gonubie Primary – Arts & Culture
We have a growing Cultural Department where pupils with an interest in Music and Art are encouraged to develop their talents.
Our Music Department offers both class and private music lessons and our pupils participate in external music exams. Pupils learn to play drums, piano, marimbas and recorders as well as receive voice coaching.
Our marimba bands and choirs draw pupils from all grades and our bands have gone on tours to Gauteng and Cape Town as well as entertaining local audiences. Our choirs participate in local Eisteddfods and mass choir exhibitions.
We have a vibrant Art Department which enters pupils’ art in a variety of competitions. There is an Art Club where our talented artists further explore various forms of art and develop their artistic skills.
Our school is also host to some local dance studios where those pupils who find expression through dance are catered for. The highlight for these pupils is the number of shows that they participate in throughout their Primary School careers.
